Getting Grounded with Baum und Pferdgarten

Getting Grounded with Baum und Pferdgarten

The Longevity and the lifespan of our clothes has always been an integral part of the Pari Passu ethos. We’re here to serve the women who delight in the thrill of novelty, but want to craft a sustainable future. Recently, we are beginning to expand this a little bit further by giving you an insight into the designers and brands we carry to help you shop hand in hand with your personal style and your desire for a consciously sourced garment. With this responsibility, we ensure that every piece is designed with restorative intention.

Small but meaningful actions can lead to monumental results. We’re here to help you reclaim your power and contribute to a better, kinder world. Our aim is to create visibility to our designers who are focusing on a more restorative fashion landscape.

Enter Danish fashion house, Baum und Pferdgarten. Founded in Copenhagen in 1999, Baum und Pferdgarten is one of the leading Danish fashion houses paving the way in reinventing fashion through sustainability. The founding Creative Directors, Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave have helped the brand sharpen its vision towards a greener future and create a platform from which other brands in the fashion industry can learn more about sustainable supply chains and transparency around sustainability targets.

These sustainable targets were derived from the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that were put forth on the agenda in 2015. Since then, 17 SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals) have been created as a policy guide for the 196 countries that make up the UN in order to end poverty by 2030 while protecting the planet and promoting sustainable development for the next 15 years.

Baum und Pferdgarten’ ultimate goal is longevity and design their garments with a full circle mindset, using materials and processes with the lowest environmental impact, which can be a part of a closed-loop system. They are working closely with the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals and have chosen four goals to work with in particular: Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation, Goal 10 on reduced inequalities, Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production and finally Goal 15 on Life on Land.

When purchasing a Baum und Pferdgarten piece from Pari Passu Boutique, you can be assured that you are moving towards investing in recyclable products, circular and biodegradable innovation, improving processes and chemical awareness of each piece.

We honoured to share with you Baum und Pferdgarten work towards stringent benchmarks across sustainability pillars of:

Considered materials

These include promoting the use of recycled fabrications and implementing recycled packaging where possible.

As of 2020 25% of sustainable cellulose and cotton were used throughout their forward thinking products along with 50% recycled polyester and 50% Oekotex trim with the mission of 100% use with the above by 2024. Each forward thinking product is distinct with a unique Baum und Pferdgarten swing tag.

Supply Chain Certifications
By 2020 25% of their suppliers have lived up to Oeko-tex® Standard 100 as a minimum with 100% set by 2024.

Considered practices

To continuously improve and push towards better solutions you will see Baum und Pferdgarten implement the use of natural and certified organic sourcing of hemp, line and cottons with the aim to increase the recyclability of products significantly and to do this, they prioritise using materials that can be recycled on a commercial scale while avoid using mixed fibres. In 2020 100% of their suppliers have signed their Code of Conduct and Human Rights policy. The obligation towards fair treatment goes for every living being in their supply chain, and when animals are part of their production, they make sure that they are treated with dignity with the use of their Animal Welfare Policy.

We hope learning more about the designers we carry inspires more knowledge in how to shop in a more considered way. Consumption is something we do everyday anyway, let’s use it to make a difference.
